Dear Parent,
Summer vacation is right around the corner and this year we have an Explorative Summer Camp theme that is guaranteed to captivate the interest of your child. In a recent report it was noted that during summer vacations, most children forget the basics and come back to school with a weak foundation. This does not imply that your child should not be having fun this summer, it just underlines the fact that the other half of the deal, namely 'learning', is compromised. At Ivy League Academy fun and learning is an integrated and continuous process, designed to build knowledge and sharpen your child's preparedness. Following are our key goals for our summer camp.

  • To provide a relaxed daily environment with an age-appropriate curriculum composed of activities that encourage continued development in the areas of language & literacy including Spanish, social development, math, creative art, music, science & nature, drama, physical education & development.
  • To provide a nurturing and flexible environment where children are made to feel welcome and their self esteem is enhanced and individuality is encouraged.
  • To provide an atmosphere where respect for others is emphasized and cooperative team work and play are encouraged.
  • To promote character development & citizenship, and to instill a sense of caring and sensitivity towards others.

So... how do we intend to integrate fun with learning to achieve our goals? ...We intend to implement the following eight categories of activities spanning the summer camp schedule.

  • Reading, Drama, Poetry & Spanish Club
  • Graffiti Wall
  • World Snacks
  • Science & Technology
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Community Service Projects
  • Camping & Field Trips
  • Swimming & other sports

For more details on each of the above categories, please click on the appropriate item listed in the 'Content'  block.

Our summer program is suitable for children of ages from approximately 5 (after Pre-K) to 12 years, but we do not combine the younger kids with the older ones. Program timings are from 6:30am to 6:30pm on all working days.

Please note that all programs may not be offered at all of our locations. Swimming is available only at our Peachtree Parkway location. Please speak to the Director for a final copy of the summer camp program and related fees.

Thank You!

Ivy League Academy

Reading, Drama, Poetry & Spanish Club

Reading will be incorporated everyday in a program called "Watch Me Read". The children will practice oral reading skills and poetry. We will also have a play and present it to the parents. Last but not the least, a Spanish language instructor will teach children how to speak basic Spanish by learning commonly used words. Reading is a vital skill and will be reinforced everday!

Graffiti Wall

Graffiti wall will introduce age and grade level vocabulary puzzles for the children to figure out weekly. Same concept will also be used for math. Each day we will have a "Hang Man" puzzle to figure out with new vocabulary. They will also incorporate social studies/science or language terminology. Tic Tac Toe grid will also be available for children to play. Parents, there will be puzzles for you to participate with too. Graffiti Wall provide an opportunity for the children to sharpen their math and cognitive skills!

World Snacks

Each week we will have a snack that represents a different part of the world. Thai Watermelon Slushes, New Zealand Oaty Bars, Chinese 5 Spice Pop Corns, Mexican Beans & Chips and Indian Pancakes are few of the snacks in our list. This will provide an ideal opportunity to introduce new countries and traditions, by further incorporating map skills and library visits. This is a great way for children to learn world geography!

Science & Technology

This activity is designed to build knowledge and understanding of the world in spatial terms, places and earth's physical systems. Experiments such as solar oven, weather station and stepping stones will be included as projects. Also included in technology would be simple machines, positive and negative energy and simple motor projects. This is an explorative and experimental way of learning science and technology!

Arts & Crafts

Weekly arts and crafts themes will be provided for children to enjoy and further hone their creative and fine motor skills!

Community Service Projects

We will be lending a hand to our senior friends in Cumming and building a sense of caring and citizenship in the young minds. Children will get an opportunity to visit the Senior Center in Cumming. Also included are projects such as gardening!

Camping & Field Trips

There will be several (age appropriate) field trips for learning by observation and experience, including, fishing trip to lake Lanier, visiting fish hatchery, library visits, trip to veterinarian, Sharon park, INK (Interactive Neighborhood for Kids) museum and many others. We will also organize an overnight camping experience right here in our campus.

Over and above these field trips, we will organize two special field trips to Zoo Atlanta ....

Zoo Atlanta Logo

.... and Fernbank Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs and IMAX movie!

There is an additional fee for these special field trips in order to cover for the entrance and other added expenses.

Swimming & Other Sports

In-house swimming, outdoor playtime and games is a daily summer ritual that children can't get enough. This is included in your weekly fee. We will also organize 'Summer Olympics' for the children to develop a sense of team competition.

Individual swimming and basketball lessons, Playball and FunBus activities are available for an additional fee.

These programs provide an ideal platform for physical education and development!
